Post Launch Mortem - Mina The Hollower

“People just want a normal ass game right now. Something with a beginning, middle and end”

These are the words of Alec Faulkner, game designer and director at Yacht Club Games.

When it comes to video games, there is so much hype leading up to the release of a game, but once it comes out, it feels like the industry quickly moves onto the next release. However, I’ve always been more interested in what happens inside a studio after a release and dissecting how the launch went from an inside perspective

In our first Post Launch Mortem, I got the chance to talk with Yacht Club Games and discuss the launch of Mina The Hollower and ask five burning questions:

-How did Mina meet critical and sales expectations?

-What lessons were learned through development?

-What could’ve been compromised during development that wasn’t?

-What advice would you give to indie studios creating their first game?

-What’s the next step for the Yacht Club and for Mina The Hollower?
