The Top Nintendo Switch 2 Cases
What is the Best Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case?
Did you know the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t the most expensive Nintendo console launch of all time at 449 USD?
That title actually belongs to the original Nintendo Entertainment System, which launched at 179 USD in 1985. Adjusted for inflation in 2025 is a little over 520 dollars. The Super Nintendo is also more expensive than the Switch 2 with a price tag of 199 in 1991, which with inflation is around 460 USD.
Needless to say, these are all very expensive consoles, that are worth every penny in hindsight based on how much joy you get out of them at the end of their life cycle. However, you want to protect it if you are going to a rooftop party, taking a road trip, heading to a friends for a fun night or flying somewhere. Whatever the case, we bought and tested all of the Nintendo Switch 2 cases on Amazon to find the best ones, so you don’t have to.
The one big caveat is that since we are testing all of these cases prior to launch, we wont be able to criticize fitment, but we will still be able to judge these cases based on many factors including price, build quality, aesthetics, and features.
What we are going to do is pick the top 3 third party Nintendo Switch 2 cases for a variety of different lifestyles and needs, so you can decide which case is best for you.
The links to the best cases will be listed below. If you are going to purchase one of these and found our guide helpful, please use one of our affiliate links as it helps keep our outlet going. This video isn’t sponsored in any way, so here is our unbiased opinion.
The Top Three (Third Party) Nintendo Switch 2 cases
As you would expect, a lot of the third party Nintendo Switch 2 cases that we tested felt cheap and don’t instil confidence that that will protect your Nintendo Switch 2 properly. Even worse some of these cases already had problems from zippers not operating properly and loose threads, but after testing here are the top three cases for a variety of different lifestyles and needs

Waterfield Designs CitySlicker Nintendo Switch 2 Case (link)
$129 USD
All of these other third party cases are coming from Amazon, which entails certain factors including that they will all be around the same entry level price point, but if you are interested in something of a higher build quality, better materials, a more refined look and better business practices, check out Waterfield Designs City Slicker.
Waterfield Designs are the only company that I could find that design and craft their cases North America using high quality materials such as full grain leather, waxed canvas and ballistic nylon. They are all handmade as well. I purchased a City Slicker for my Nintendo Switch in 2017 and it still looks the same as the day I bought it.
One of the downsides is that since they are handmade, they are done in limited batches. Currently they are doing pre-orders for their second run, which is tentatively being shipped out early July. There is also no denying that these cases are much more expensive than the competition, but the materials as well as build quality speak for themselves and equally, if not more important, you are supporting a local company.
We are hoping to review one of their cases as soon as they become available. However, based on my experience with their case for the original Nintendo Switch, I can confidently recommend it.
Best Budget Nintendo Switch 2 Travel Case
JSAUX Large Capacity Nintendo Switch 2 Case (link)
$21.99USD/$24.99 CAD
JSAUX exploded onto the scene with all of their Steam Deck accessories, which were all very highly rated from buyers. The company used this momentum to pivot into plenty of other gaming related accessories. JSAUX have a few cases for the Switch 2 already. The one shown in the video feels the cheapest out of the top three, but it’s also the least expensive at around 20 bucks. It also has a little extra space to bring along a charging cable or small headphones like AirPods and a shoulder strap for the ability to carry the case in a variety of ways. However for a few more dollars, JSAUX makes a better case, which came in after filming this video and it feels drastically better. It has much more storage, but more importantly it has a much better build quality and reminds me of the Steam Deck case from Valve. This is by far the case that I would recommend for someone looking for good value in a Nintendo Switch 2 Case. It easily the best Switch 2 case under 25 dollars.
Best Nintendo Switch 2 Travel Case for local or Short Travel
Auarte Hard Case 59.99 CAD/49.99 USD (link)
If you are going to be travelling on planes and whatnot, this case isn’t for you because it’s relatively bulky compared to the other cases, but if you are just going to be taking your Switch to you friends house for the night, it’s actually quite well built. Having purchased many different hard cases over the years from industry leaders Pelican and the like, this case impressed me. It has pre cut foam, instead of the cheaper pick and pluck, with slots for everything you need from game cards to power banks. It even has removable foam depending on if you want to fit the Switch 1 or the Switch 2, which is a nice feature. The only downside is that there is a much more sturdy layer of foam at the top, which will last, but the foam underneath is slightly cheaper and without proper care, it might tear a bit underneath into other compartments.
