Curse of Resthaven is a genre fusion, but it’s definitely not a deckbuilder and labelling it such would be a massive disservice to what the experience really is. Curse of Resthaven is a phenomenal narrative-driven time-loop mystery unfolding on a cursed Eldritch island that is part Widow’s Bay, part Groundhog Day that is on par and even better than some of the best narrative mysteries of recent years.
Curse of Resthaven is an ambitious title from Hilltop Studios, a five-person indie team from Toronto, but what this gothic mystery lacks in big budget production value, it over-compensates with atmosphere and immersion. Curse of Resthaven feels like it has just scratched at the surface of this universe and it’s easy to see this as a serialized podcast, an animated series or even a live-action feature. If you have a detective bone in your body, Resthaven should absolutely be your next case.
